Rosen’s contemporary art collection are just a few of the lots lined up for Sotheby’s September and October auctions. The Armory Show
Recently acquired by Frieze art fair, The Armory Show comes to the Javits Center from September 8-10 (invitation-only preview, September 7). Several Florida-based galleries including Ascaso, David Castillo, Nina Johnson and Spinello Projects are among over 225 international galleries. Sectors range from Platform’s large-scale installations themed “Rewriting Histories” to Presents for emerging galleries no more than a decade old.

Independent 20th Century
Independent 20th Century, Independent Art Fair’s offshoot that debuted last year, hosts its second edition at Cipriani South Street at the Battery Maritime Building from September 8-10 (invitation-only preview, September 7). Approximately 30 galleries and nonprofits including newcomers like Hauser & Wirth Institute and Almine Rech and Donald Ellis galleries were nominated to participate, while programming with talks and performances debuts.

New York Fashion Week
Taking place at various locations from September 8-13, NYFW: The Shows offers “On Location” experiences. Many designer brands like Altuzarra, Proenza Schouler and Alice & Olivia are inviting fans to get up close and personal through tiered packages for runway shows with front row seating, meet and greets, VIP gifts and shopping credits during presentations of their Spring 2024 collections.

The Fifth Avenue Hotel
Slated to open October 16, The Fifth Avenue Hotel is part of the NoMad neighborhood’s renaissance. Martin Brudnizki designed interiors for the 153-room, Gilded Age-inspired hotel housed in a Beaux Art building with a newly constructed, modern glass tower. Patrons of chef José Andrés’s shuttered Bazaar at SLS Miami Beach are delighted his Spanish meets Japanese cuisine can be found at his new Bazaar in the Ritz-Carlton New York, NoMad. Montauk’s The Surf Lodge opened Ketchy Shuby, a casual hangout for healthy to decadent dishes in SoHo.
