International Ballet Festival Of Miami

The International Ballet Festival of Miami returns for its 28th season with over 100 principal dancers from around the world. Featuring ballet companies plus modern and contemporary dance ensembles, the festival’s performances are held at multiple venues throughout Miami.
Donna Ruff: Terra Incognita
Through August 31
Take a trip to the beautiful Deering Estate in Palmetto Bay to view Miami-based artist Donna Ruff’s large- and small-scale silk screens rendered on handmade Bhutanese bark paper in the exhibit Terra Incognita. Exploring Charles Deering’s relationship with botanist John Kunkel Small, Ruff’s works are based on Small’s archival photographs of specimens taken around the estate’s grounds. Ruff will also host an artist talk on August 24 from 1-3 p.m. to provide further insight into her creative process and inspiration.
Mummies Of The World: The Exhibition
Through September 4
Head to the Phillip and Patricia Frost Museum of Science in Downtown Miami for Mummies of the World: The Exhibition, featuring a fascinating collection of 40 human and animal mummified remains along with 80 rare artifacts from across the globe. The exhibit offers a window into ancient civilizations, spanning Egypt, South America and Europe. Tip: If you’re going to be in town on August 11, don’t miss the museum’s monthly Laser Evenings event at the Planetarium to see laser light visuals set to the music of Taylor Swift, Daft Punk, Metallica and more.
Disney’s The Little Mermaid
August 9-27
If you’ve seen the new live-action “Little Mermaid” movie and your kids are yearning for more, don’t miss “Disney’s The Little Mermaid” at the Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts of Miami-Dade County in Downtown Miami. Area Stage frames this musical production inside a seaside tavern, where sailors and pirates weave the famous fairy tale that originated from Hans Christian Andersen. It’s the perfect way to spend an afternoon or evening.
Miami Dolphins Pre-Season Game Vs. The Atlanta Falcons
August 11
August means NFL football is heating up, and the Miami Dolphins’ preseason kicks off with a 7 p.m. game versus the Atlanta Falcons at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens. Don your aqua-and-orange and cheer on the team to a victorious season.
Miami Coconut Grove Summer Craft Beer Festival
August 12
There’s perhaps nothing more refreshing in the heat of August than a frosty pint of beer. That’s exactly what the Miami Coconut Grove Summer Craft Beer Festival is offering when the event comes to the Woman’s Club of Coconut Grove for the sixth annual celebration. You’ll find over 100 craft beers, fine wines, craft spirits and cocktails to sample alongside delicious food and live music. Spend the day exploring funky Coconut Grove, then head over to the festival, which runs from 7-11 p.m.
Beyoncé: Renaissance World Tour

August brings one of the biggest music celebrities in the world to Hard Rock Stadium: the incomparable Beyoncé on her highly anticipated Renaissance World Tour. At publication time, tickets were still available, but don’t delay.

Everyone’s favorite cartoon pups hit the Arsht Center stage with Paw Patrol Live! Heroes Unite. This live, interactive show features the larger-than-life gang of beloved pups and includes plenty of audience participation, captivating storytelling and a catchy musical score.
Black Pepper Food & Wine Festival
August 26
A food festival celebrating the African Diaspora, Black Pepper Food Festival returns to Historic Overtown at The Urban for its third year. Showcasing Black-owned restaurants and food trucks, the lively festival will include a Black Vendor Marketplace, on-site cook-off competitions, guest chefs and live music from 3-8 p.m.
